FAQ – Deleting an Apiary

Deleting an apiary

In BeeInTouch, you can manage and permanently delete apiaries. This makes sense when a location is no longer used, was created twice by mistake, or you want to reorganize your apiaries. Important: deletion is final and cannot be undone. If you need records for yourself, customers, or authorities, export relevant data first (e.g. PDF/CSV).

Check beforehand: prerequisites for deletion

Before permanently removing an apiary, check the following: no colonies may remain at the site. Complete all open tasks. If you’ve recently migrated, handle registrations/deregistrations and health certificates. This prevents data and record loss and keeps your documentation audit-proof – good practice for beekeepers.

Step-by-step: delete apiary

Step 1: log in to BeeInTouch

  1. Log in to BeeInTouch using your login details.
  2. Go to the main menu and select „Stände“, or use the apiary overview on the start page.

Step 2: select apiary

  1. Find the apiary you want to delete in the overview.
  2. Click on the entry to open the detail view.

Step 3: dissolve apiary (preparation)

  1. Make sure no colonies remain at this location. Dissolve them or move them to another apiary beforehand.
  2. In the detail view, click „Pfeil“ next to the location address.
  3. The dialogue expands to show detailed information. Now select „Stand auflösen“.
  4. A notification window informs you that this process cannot be undone.

Step 4: confirm deletion

  1. Please double-check that the correct apiary is selected.
  2. Confirm the dialog with “Yes” to complete the process.
  3. The apiary will be removed from the overview and map; related data will be permanently unavailable unless exported beforehand.

Best practices for beekeepers

  • Delete only if the location is truly no longer needed – deletion is permanent.
  • Complete pending To-Dos.
  • Keep track of reporting obligations: registrations/deregistrations, health certificates & location updates after moving hives.

Frequently Asked Questions

What happens to harvest and inspection data?
Since the colonies must be moved to another site or dissolved before removing an apiary, they remain preserved.

I deleted the wrong apiary – what now?
Recreate the location if needed and record the process in your documents. Restoration of the deleted entry is not possible.
